The Samsung's BESpoke fridge lineup allows users to set up their kitchen in a customised style, to suit modern kitchen trends. They are designed to be either freestanding or recess fit. The new refrigerator lineup incorporates a modular design and offers different types. With the ability to configure BESPOKE in many ways, consumers can enjoy the flexibility of tailoring their fridge to their lifestyle and design needs.
Context
The BESPOKE Family Hub UX is a high-definition touch screen mounted on a refrigerator door that provides useful and fun information for the whole family. It offers an array of screens that harmonize with the refrigerator and the kitchen décor, as well as the Home Board, the device’s digital and analog interface. Using the Home Board, family members interact with the Family Hub for a seamless, depthless, and easy-to-control experience. It consists of four themes that can be customized based on the family’s lifestyle. The Family Board records family memories, the Culinary Board provides meal planning and recipes preferred by family members, the Homecare Board controls and manages the entire home including appliances, and the Entertainment Board offers music and streaming video enjoyed by family members. It also offers voice-powered control of major functions for vision-impaired users. Through the Hub app, family members can check and generate content anytime, anywhere through their mobile devices.

1. Discovery
Four key insights

2. Define
We looked at vital insights from the internal team and use desk research to conclude key behaviours that will define Family 5.0 & 6.0. We found four key shifts that will be needed to be created to make Family Hub a well rounded product.
Key Shifts
“I want sexy technology that looks less techy, more matching my style and home - like the Serif TV.”
VX Strategy shifts
Product shifts
Interior shifts
UI Shifts
3. Ideation & 4. User Interface
By now, I have gathered enough information to get started with designs. It was a constant loop of wireframes, sketches, mid - high fidelity designs and prototypes. This approach is to make the entire UI holistic. After the first few weeks, I mainly focused on cover screens and interfaces prototypes. We created a design system that signals the future of the fridge experience to connect everything together
We want to create discrete and spatial hierarchy and legibility with the typography so we are using 2 fonts.
Motion Language
Motion that is rich through the interaction of objects and playing with parallax and magnetic fields. With motion I introduce natural physics creating a rich humanised experience. This adds depth to the animation through subtle parallax and detailed transitions. With motion the aim is to discover over time. Which becomes pleasurable subtle and enhances the overall design ethos.
Use cases of micro interactions
With the fridge being a device not constantly used, micro interactions cannot be too subtle. A typical scenario will have few use case. Using motion to drive the entire UI key actions.

7. Coverscreens
Bringing art to BESpoke Family Hub. Coverscreens designed for calmness and serenity and to blend to user's lifestyle. We created wallpapers in-house and also collaborated with THE POSTERCLUB that creates beautiful artwork inspired by scandinavian lifestyle.
