As a result of this project, I’m on high alert for symbolism and the identity it embodies. How traditions, habits, and mutual differences are impacted by Icons. I try to question all icons, especially those that feel the most familiar. For example, is the VW Beetle car the best symbol for ‘ugly car’? Which era used typewriters? Mobile has overtaken Tv as the to-go screen! Using this notion, what are other ways that ‘TVs’ could be symbolised in an ever changing world? What would those icons evoke for Gen Z, some who have never even seen a typewriter?
I started the project going to the visiting various vintage shops, museums and watching some Movies/TV shows set in before the 90s like Mad Men for example. Starting broad, I sketched out tons of vintage objects before beginning to develop some of the best ideas into something.
